  • WI was poised to have a surplus at the end of this budget cycle (June). That all changed within the last month when the governor passed spending/tax cut bills to create a deficit, then turned to the teachers to pay for it.

  • They don't need to and aren't waiting for another election (shouldn't that be next year, since Walker wants unions to require a vote every year?). Recall petitions are going around now. It's legal and reasserts the power is with the people to determine what government should be doing.

  • The only on trying to strong arm the taxpayers of WI is the Governor Walker, who wants the taxpayers to pay more to make up for the tax breaks he JUST gave to corporations.

  • They WERE NOT whining about their pay or benefits. The governor created a budget shortfall to attack their benefits and their union. "Abandoned the kids" HA! Getting ready for your Oscar performance with that drama?!

  • Ahh, Jerry, so you want to bring, what, cost of living into this? Does your son still live in TN? If so, halt any plans for him to move to WI and get that teaching job! His $18k is equivalent to about $22,500 in Milwaukee area. After the cost of moving, he's no better off.

  • Jerry, that's $18k a year for work he didn't even train to do. He can start as a teacher at $25k...all he needs is a teaching certificate, plan to get a master's degree, willingness to work 70 hours a week from late August to mid-June. That $7K would be SO worth it, no?
